Back to the gym 2.5 weeks post-op and recovering from bronchitis.  The cough/cold didn’t get any better and a trip to the doctor earned me a chest x-ray. Bad timing on my part. The bronchitis was unrelated to surgery…

I am a 40 year old healthy woman with no co-morbiditys. However, I am considered overweight despite diet and exercise. I've always carried my weight exclusively in my hips, thighs and buttocks. Recently, it has spread into my upper arms, abdomen and some fat pockets developed on my shins. I have a significantly disproportionate shape. Tiny up top, huge on the bottom. I've been complaining for years of pain and fatigue but with no answers. Finally, on 12/29/14, I was diagnosed with lipedema, an underdiagnosed adipose tissue disorder. I have created this page to share my journey in hopes to spread awareness and hope for others who suffer from this condition.
